Chiropractic Summer Survival Tips

Published July 28th, 2020 by Dr. Hoder

Here in sunny south Florida, it can feel like summer year-round. Despite our warm climate, summer is a season many Floridians still look forward to, but for some it can be a season filled with pain. More free time and outdoor activities can result in injuries that end in discomfort and pain. These problems may be the result of poor posture or technique, or you’ve simply pushed your body too far. When pain in the summer strikes, keep chiropractic in mind.

The Start of Summertime Pain

During the summer season, there are a number of injuries that we commonly treat including:

  • Knee Injuries: More time for outdoor activities can lead to a muscle imbalance in the legs, which causes knee injury and pain.

  • Plantar Fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis is often the result of mistreating your feet. People who do a lot of walking and/or running can injure the plantar fascia, which is located on the bottom of the foot, causing inflammation and pain.

  • Rotator Cuff Injury: Your rotator cuff is located in your shoulder and helps your arm rotate. In the summer months, repetitive movements from activities like swimming, gardening, and sports can cause injury to the rotator cuff which makes movement painful.

We may be used to sunshine throughout the year, but there’s something about summer that just makes you want to get outside and get active. This increase in activity also means in increased risk of injury. Fortunately, the chiropractors at Markson Chiropractic are here to help no matter the season.
