How to Stay Active This Spring

Published April 19th, 2022 by Dr. Hoder

Spring is an ideal time to be active and outdoors. The spring provides an excellent opportunity for us to stay active and maintain our health and fitness goals, whether we spend time with our friends, family or even alone. Learn how to stay active with these springtime activities and maintain your fitness goals.

How to Stay Active With Springtime Activities

Take a Bike Ride

Getting back on that bicycle you've parked since winter is an excellent way to discover new places, get active, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with friends and family. In addition, you can maintain your fitness goals. An easy bike ride through your neighborhood or in your local park is all you need to boost your heart rate. As an aerobic exercise, cycling is easy on your joints and great for your heart.

Have a Picnic

Enjoying the outdoors with someone you care about is a great way to spend time together. You are putting yourself on the right track for good mental and physical health by packing a healthy lunch and walking to the best picnic spot. The picnic basket should consist of lean meats, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Don't forget to cover up in the sun with sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.

Plant a Garden

You would be surprised at how practical gardening can be as a way to stay active. It is not only therapeutic but also strenuous. A garden is no walk in the park, as you have to use your entire body while bending, pulling, twisting and turning. Moreover, planting healthy foods in your garden allows you to choose from your fresh produce supply. A garden full of fresh produce will contribute to your fitness goals once it is up and running. Finally, if you plant in the spring, you can look forward to a bountiful, fruitful fall.
