Auto Injury? Chiropractic Care Can Help!

Published January 15th, 2019 by Dr. Daner

Auto accidents are generally very violent and place a lot of stress on the body. Muscle, tendon, ligament injuries are very common, and in more severe cases, fractured bones and vertebral disc injuries can also occur. Most of the time after an auto accident, adrenaline levels tend to greatly elevate, which occurs in any stressful situation. After these adrenaline levels start to go down a few hours after the accident, pain and soreness may began to set in. This is where most people generally start seeking medical help for their injuries. Chiropractors can help!

Chiropractors provide treatment for the musculoskeletal system without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractic is like any other rehabilitation technique, working to restore joint mobility and range of motion. Chiropractors achieve this goal through both spinal manipulation, which focuses on the proper alignment of the vertebral column, and various therapies, which generally work on the soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments) in the spine and elsewhere. Generally after a traumatic experience like a car accident, joints and soft tissue are very inflamed, which leads to decreased range of motion, as the body is trying to protect itself. Chiropractors focus on restoring this missing range of motion, which in turn will decrease pain. INCREASED MOTION = DECREASED PAIN. It is a simple concept, but very important in the healing process after an accident.

Whiplash, neck/back pain, and headaches are probably the most common types of complaints following an auto accident. There are countless others, but these tend to stick out. The key to getting an injury healed as quickly as possible is to get under care as soon as possible after an accident. Failure to do so will result in further decreased range of motion and continued pain. If you are in an auto accident, do not wait to get under some kind of care...your body will thank you for it!
