Keeping Your Cold At Bay

Published July 5th, 2016 by Dr. Markson

A summer spent traveling is usually followed up by a cold. You chalk it up to being exposed to lots of germs in the airport or gas station. But in reality, the cold virus is always out there and if your immune system is healthy and functioning properly, your body will defend itself and fight the virus off before you even realize it's there.

The only time you'll notice is if your body isn't prepared to defend itself, resulting in a cold. This usually happens when there's interference in your nervous system. It's possible to have the virus in your system for a couple days before ever knowing that it's there, but when you do notice it, you're already miserable. Here's what you can do to prep your body to be at its best defense to keep you cold-free.

Modify Your Diet

Avoid sugar and add more fruits and vegetables into your diet. Vitamin and anti-oxidant rich foods help you to better fight off sickness.

Exercise

Staying active helps to boost your immune system so that you can stay healthy.

Get The Proper Amount of Sleep

While you sleep your body restores itself. Get the right amount of rest to decrease your chances of getting sick.

Drink Water!

Water helps to flush toxins out of your body. Drink lots of water throughout the day.

Visit your Chiropractor Regularly

Getting adjusted regularly ensures that your nervous system can function optimally. If you do catch a cold, it's important to go in and get adjusted so that you can fight that cold off faster.

Remember that your body is designed to heal itself. You get cut and it heals. You get a cold and it goes away. Chiropractors just help your body get to its best state to heal itself without drugs or surgery. So give us a call and avoid catching a cold altogether.
