Chiropractic for Back Pain

Published February 3rd, 2015 by Markson Chiropractic And Medical

80% of the U.S. population suffers from back pain. It is the 2nd most common reason that people miss work. Back pain is your body's way of telling you that you have an underlying problem. For example, a muscle strain, a ligament sprain, or a swollen joint may all cause back pain. Fortunately, most of the conditions related to back pain are manageable and can be resolved with chiropractic care.

The needs of the patient dictate the approach we take with our chiropractic care. However, we typically use specific spinal adjustments along with various therapies to reduce the inflammations, restore proper joint mobility, and strengthen weakened muscles. Patients typically feel a reduction in pain after the first few appointments.

Once the patient is no longer experiencing acute pain, our chiropractors begin to address the underlying issues with corrective chiropractic treatment. During the corrective phase of treatment, patients do not have to receive adjustments as often as they did during their acute care. Depending on the patient’s particular circumstance we may recommend doing exercises and stretches in our chiropractic office and at home to accelerate the healing process.

Routine chiropractic adjustments can help to ensure that your symptoms do not return. Just like continuing an exercise or diet program, it is a great idea to continue with regular chiropractic care to ensure that your symptoms do not return, and that you don’t have to rely on over-the-counter or prescription painkillers to mask your symptoms.
